Search for an occupation by entering a keyword or title of the occupation. The search goes through codes, titles, lay titles and descriptions of occupations listed in the Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) list. To narrow or broaden the scope of your search, you may wish to experiment with the key word you submit. For example, a search on lawyer will return the specific occupation, while a search for law will return over 20 occupations.

Sometimes you'll only want results that include an exact phrase. In this case, simply put quotation marks around your search terms, for example "law clerk" will return 3 occupations while search for a law clerk will return over 50 occupations.
